A delightful experience with every drop. I was on the hunt for a clean serum utilising natural ingredients, and while we’ve seen mushrooms included in supplements, we’re finally starting to see their powers and benefits harnessed into the skincare industry. Herbar currently offers only a small variety of products, but you can see that every inclusion is deliberate and clinically-based.
The Face Nectar is a lightweight, viscous serum containing ultra-low molecular Hyaluronic Acid designed to hydrate and retain moisture for up to 24 hours. It absorbs quickly into the skin (I always prefer to do the sandwich method – toner, serum, then more toner to pull in more moisture). The micro-sized HA molecules allow deeper penetration into the skin’s layers, unlike most HA serums on the market, which have larger molecules. The Face Nectar is a serum that applies both the Eastern and Western approach to skin care, culminating into a beautiful formula.
Some other star ingredients included in this serum include glycerin, trehalose, probiotics, ginseng, astragalus, as well as mushroom extracts of Turkey Tail, Matsutake, Tremella, and Reishi. Turkey Tail battles environmental stress due to compounds like flavonoids and polysaccharides. Matsutake contains beta-glucan, which reduces wrinkles by inhibiting cellular breakdown. Tremella is a mushroom you’ve probably heard in passing, due to its long history of consumption for beauty, as well as being almost as effective as Hyaluronic Acid for plumping and moisturising the skin. Finally, Reishi’s antioxidants work effectively for hyperpigmentation, reducing inflammation, and overall boosting skin health. Another special mention is Herbar’s use of astragalus in this formula, which is the first time I’ve ever seen this adaptogen applied to skin care. Not only is it believed to regenerate skin cells, it actively works to heal the skin and stimulate further collagen production – something I know we all cannot get enough of.
When applying this to my skin, I’m immediately greeted with a cooling, soothing experience. I can visibly see the difference of hydration within the first few minutes, and I adore observing the plump, bouncy result that lasts all day.
